What Home Means To Me

By Sara-Lyn

With no home I feel depressed.
With no home I don't feel safe.
I feel scared every time I go to sleep.
I feel like I don’t have anywhere to go.
With no home I want to curl up into a ball and cry.
I want a place besides the streets.
I just want to be treated like I matter.

With no home I want to cry.
With no home I want it all to be over.
With no home I am alone.
With no home I’m just so helpless.
With no home I feel so bitter.
All the awful memories inside of me.
I wish for some kind of miracle to happen.

When I get a home it would be so sweet rather than bitter.
So when I get a home,
I feel so proud.
I love all the rooms it has.
Big, small, I don’t care.
As long as I have somewhere.

With a home I feel so good.
With a home I’m joyful.
I wish other could feel this too.
I feel so excited to have a place to go.
A place I can call home!
Having a home is so great.
Having a home puts a smile on my face.

Having a home filled with laughter.
Joy in the air.
I feel happy even if it’s the littlest thing.
I feel so thankful for the gift of home.
I hope one day others can have one too.

Home is a place to spit out your fears ,
Home is a place to cry all your tears,

Home is a place where you can be loved and cared,
To hide away from the storm when I’m scared,

Home is a place that I can heal
Where everyone knows how good or bad I feel,

Home is a place that I will have food,
And not where everyone is being so rude,

Home is beautiful home is nice,
Home is a place where I won't feel like mice,

But some people don't have a home,
And they also will feel really alone,

We need to get those people a home,
And that is why I am writing this poem,

They don't feel what I feel at home,
All they feel is that dumb feeling alone
I want them to have a home and so should you
And stop them from feeling really, really blue

If I didn't have a home
I would also probably feel really really alone.

Home is everything.
To me home is a place that feels warm and safe.
Home is where I feel loved and have fun with my Sister, Mom and Dad.
I feel visible and have the freedom to do anything.
Home makes me feel proud and awesome.
It’s a place where my family is happy, safe and cozy.
It’s a place where I can be myself, have good dreams and feel happy.
When I come back from school, I always feel welcome.
When I come home from school, I open my door and
I see my cute little dog wagging his tail and jumping up on me.
On the weekends ... we make chocolate chip cookies!!!
On cold winter days... we have hot chocolate with marshmallows in it!!!
If it is warm enough, we have snowball fights!!!
Whenever I have a bad day at school and I get back home,
it’s like the bad day was never there.
Home is everything.
